Journal - Session 26
“Failed experiments dealing with otherworldly artifacts” – it sounds as if it were a passage in one my books during my studies, but more accurately describes the day’s events. We dealt with the monstrous arcane golem, but not before performing exceedingly painful experiments with divine magic on the thing.
This golem (for I have no better term that describes this hulking, transforming mass of living rock) seems to have the ability to gorge itself on magic, as we so painfully discovered. In doing so, it bolsters its regenerative powers and seems to be able to recoup any damage done to it an an alarming rate. Even Salazar, a powerful magic user of some type far beyond my companions and my ability seemed powerless against this thing and it’s appetite for energy. Our final contest with the thing lead it off of the cliff to crash into the earth with such force and cacophony as to stir the heavens. I pray there is no way for the thing to come back from such a devastating injury, but I believe this is not the last time we’ve seen it – however next time we must be better prepared to deal with such a threat.
There is a mystery and danger here the likes of which I had thought was kept safe between the pages of myth or fiction. However, as we overcome each of these dangers my faith and the trust in my companions is tempered. And there can be no doubt, with the divine spark starting to burn within Candy as well that our path is just. It was not chance or fortune that our band came together, the divine has reached out and wove our fates together to face these threats.
